Clear aligners are suitable for teenagers and adults with mild to moderate dental misalignments, such as crowded teeth, gaps, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. During a consultation at DMD Dental, Dr. Du Mond will assess your specific dental needs to determine if clear aligners are the best treatment option for you.

The duration of clear aligner treatment varies depending on the complexity of the case. On average, patients at DMD Dental complete their treatment within 12 to 18 months. However, some may achieve their desired results in as little as six months, while more complex cases could take longer. Consistent wear of the aligners, as prescribed, is crucial for timely progress.

For optimal results, its recommended to wear your clear aligners for at least 22 hours per day. They should only be removed for eating, drinking anything other than water, brushing, and flossing. Adhering to this schedule ensures that your teeth move according to the planned trajectory and helps prevent delays in treatment.

Clear aligners are designed with smooth, BPA-free plastic, making them generally more comfortable than traditional braces. While you may experience mild discomfort or pressure when transitioning to a new set of aligners, this sensation typically subsides within a few days and indicates that the aligners are effectively moving your teeth.

Proper maintenance of your aligners is essential for oral hygiene and the effectiveness of the treatment. Rinse your aligners with lukewarm water before and after use, and clean them gently with a soft toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste or a designated aligner cleaning solution. Avoid using hot water, as it can warp the plastic. Additionally, always store your aligners in their protective case when not in use to prevent damage or contamination.

Upon completing your clear aligner treatment at DMD Dental, Dr. Du Mond will provide you with a custom retainer to maintain your new smile. Wearing the retainer as instructed is crucial to prevent your teeth from gradually shifting back to their original positions. Regular follow-up appointments will also be scheduled to monitor your retention and overall oral health.
